What are High Security Locks?
High-security locks, whether a high-security deadbolt, cylinder lock, or cabinet lock, are specifically designed and manufactured with advanced security features that provide enhanced levels of protection from unauthorised access, picking and manipulation in applications where heightened security is essential. High-security locks are a certified classification of locking mechanism engineered to resist attack methods that standard locks cannot withstand. The classification covers three measurable areas.
Standard features of high security locks include:
- Attack resistance This includes drilling resistance, chisel resistance, twisting resistance, extraction and torque resistance.
- Picking resistance This includes total number of secured combinations, manual picking, gun picking and electric picking.
- Environmental resistance This includes corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance up to +65°C and low temperature resistance to -25°C.
